I can’t be the only one who was breathlessly awaiting this story since Isaac and Bill showed up. He might not have a choice for long, though, as the case reveals a deadly and dark secret that could very well spell the end of life as all familiars know it. Well…maybe not claw, seeing as how Isaac refuses to shift into his canine self in a probably vain hope that doing so will eventually rid him of his horrible nature. Not only does the investigation get more grim the deeper they dive into the case, but Isaac has to fight tooth and claw against his attraction to the man. Then Isaac gets tasked to help Bill out on an investigation into the murder of a nun at a local orphanage and things quickly get out of control. No…Isaac is tainted and not for the likes of Bill Quigley. After all, what on earth would compel someone so nice and gentle to bind themselves to a familiar whose magic seems set on linking to the worst that humanity has to offer. But if there is one thing that Isaac knows, it is that he doesn’t deserve the kind-hearted man.
